Welcome!

Let's do a little introduction! I'm Khrystian and this is my blog and website. I'm a photographer living in Suffolk, Virginia. I originally from Oklahoma but when I married the love of my life, it brought us here!

I'm a creative/ ghost writer for a few websites as my day job, but photography is my passion. I absolutely love capturing those sweet moments between families, the passion and motivation behind the headshot portraits, the precious giggles in the children sessions.

When I'm not snapping pictures, I'm hanging with my husband and daughter or serving at our church singing or photographing. I love all things that have to do with hot coffee, sprinkled donuts, my Bible, good books, and cozy blankets.

I hope you enjoying reading along and getting to know me just a little more and learning about what my drive is behind my little business.

Dwain + Khrystian

Dwain and I have been together for almost 10 years now. Some days it feels like just yesterday that we met and other days it feels like a life time ago ;) We met through a mutual friend and from then on we have been best friends. Mr. Hembree is in the Navy and that has brought us here to the Hampton Roads area.

We love to spend as much time together as we can. 10 days after our wedding Mr. Hembree deployed for 8.5 months and after being in and out for that next year he deployed again...and again, and again. So quality time together is sacred. We love to play fantasy football, read the same books, listen to podcasts, and take adventures exploring Hampton Roads.

Dwain really is the best and I'm so blessed to have him in my life. He's my precious confidant, loudest cheerleader, constant encourager, and best friend. Without him, I wouldn't be able to be here living my best life and doing what I love.

Nora Grey

In May of 2018, after many years of heartache and waiting, awful diagnosis's and infertility, failed placements and scams, we brought home our beautiful daughter, Nora Grey.

The day we got the call to bring her home, I hung up the phone and started crying. The first words out of my mouth were, "I'm going to be a mom on Mother's Day!" Mr. Hembree still doesn't let me live this down and teases me that that was the first thing I said.

We had 9 days to get everything we needed to bring her home. Luckily we didn't have to travel far to get her. That drive home is still one of the most terrifying drives we ever had. Talk about precious cargo!

The story of her in utero life is astounding and something I will share later on, but she is truly our miracle baby and was made specifically for our family. The past 2.5 years have been full of laughter, adventures, cuddles, kisses and hugs, and a few tears from everyone involved ;) She really is an answer to so many prayers.

The Future

So what does the future hold for K. Hembree Photography after this exciting kick off season? Well, I pray everyday that my business grows, friends share what I'm doing, clients continue to send in their amazing reviews and I'm able to keep doing what I love!

We are currently in the process AGAIN to adopt and we are beyond excited! We can not wait to bring home another baby and become a family of 4. All of the business I accrue right now is going to our second adoption. So everyone who has supported me and given me their business, thank you. To my future clients, thank you! To everyone who shares my posts and refers me to their friends, thank you! You have a hand in bringing home our next little one.

I'm looking forward to many more blog posts filled with beautiful families and fun behind the scenes stories. I can't wait to share them with you and hope that you come back and enjoy them. If you haven't already, make sure you stay in connection through Facebook and Instagram. You can find me on all platforms under @KHembreePhotography
